Copped A Storm Down The Macleay?
When a big storm rolls down the Macleay Valley, Kempsey roofs are first in line. Wind lifts sheets at the laps, flying debris dents and scratches the coating, and by the next heavy rain the water has found the gap. The valley’s summer heat does slower damage in between, cycling the metal until screws back out and the sealant around vents and flues dries and cracks.
Location matters here too. Homes near the river at Smithtown and Frederickton deal with damp, mould-friendly air off the floodplain, while the beach end of the district at Crescent Head and South West Rocks adds salt to the mix. David inspects the whole roof, not just the obvious damage, and repairs what the storm and the seasons have actually done.
What A Macleay Valley Repair Covers
Storm damage is the big one out here, but heat, damp and salt all leave their own marks. These are the repairs Kempsey roofs call for most.
A ceiling stain in a Kempsey home is often metres from the actual fault. David works back along the sheet to the true entry point and repairs that, so one visit fixes it.
Floodplain damp and coastal salt both feed rust. Caught while it is shallow, a treat-and-seal repair costs far less than the panel replacement it becomes if it is ignored.
Valley heat expands and contracts the roof day after day until screws lose their grip. Replacing tired fasteners with new sealed ones keeps the sheets tight through the next blow.
Storm-lifted sheets are refixed, split flashings and rusted valley irons repaired or replaced, and every penetration for vents, flues and solar resealed properly.
Every repair is quoted in writing at a fixed price once the inspection is done, so there are no surprises on the invoice when the work is finished.
The job ends with a full once-over of the roof, not just the patch. Nearby fasteners, laps and flashings get checked so you are not calling us back next month.

Metal Roof Repairs FAQs
Answers to the questions we get asked most.
Yes. After a storm comes down the valley we refix lifted sheets, replace any panels that are beyond saving, treat coating damage before rust sets in and reseal around vents and flues. If an insurance claim is involved, David documents the damage so you have what the insurer needs.
The whole valley and its coast. That includes Kempsey and West Kempsey, Frederickton, Smithtown, Gladstone, Crescent Head and South West Rocks. The on-site assessment is free across all of them.
Storm damage is often invisible from below. A sheet only has to lift a few millimetres at the lap, or a flashing shift slightly, for water to track in and travel along the roof before it shows on a ceiling. Getting up there and finding the real fault is exactly what the assessment is for.
It does, gradually. Long hot spells expand and contract the sheets every day, and over the years that movement backs screws out and dries the sealant around penetrations. Replacing worn fasteners and resealing early is cheap insurance against the leaks that follow.
Storm calls jump the queue. The first priority is making damaged roofs watertight, then the full repairs are booked in order. Call David as soon as you spot trouble and he will get you on the list.
