Kempsey holds some of the oldest housing stock on the Mid North Coast, and the roofs tell the story. Federation-era terracotta through town and Gladstone has often outlived several coats of paint already, while the inland summer heat that builds over the floodplain bakes coatings until they chalk and let go. Down at the coast the story flips: Crescent Head and South West Rocks roofs deal with salt rather than heat, and the storms that roll down the valley find every weak point in a tired surface.
Old roofs are usually worth keeping. The tiles under a faded coating are often perfectly sound, and careful preparation followed by a modern membrane system gives them another decade or two of service without the cost of replacement. With proper preparation, the Dulux Acra-Tex systems we use typically last 10 to 15 years or more. Inland heat through the valley and salt at Crescent Head and South West Rocks wear coatings differently, so David will give you an estimate that fits your actual location.
Considerably more. The membrane reseals the surface so tiles stop drinking in moisture, sheds storm water cleanly and, in lighter colours, reflects a useful amount of the valley’s summer heat. The improved street appeal comes along for free.
Yes we can. Steel sheeting needs its own preparation and a purpose-made metal coating, both of which are part of the Acra-Tex system we are accredited in. The result is a bonded finish that copes with the coastal air at the beach villages and the heat in town.
