Tuncurry is the quieter, more residential half of the twin towns, and its homes take the weather head on. Sitting behind Nine Mile Beach and Tuncurry Beach, the roofs here face a near-constant salt-carrying easterly with little to slow it down, and that airborne salt sits in the ridge mortar and works it loose. The seventies to nineties brick veneer homes through town are the usual candidates, their ridge cement long past its best.
Push north up the coastal strip and the exposure only sharpens. The newer estates at Diamond Beach, Hallidays Point and Black Head cop full easterly weather across open ground, so even relatively young roofs can show cracked or slipping caps sooner than owners expect. We lift the failed caps, rebed them in fresh mortar and repoint with a flexible compound that keeps its seal through that coastal battering.

We carry replacement tiles to every job, so any broken ones along your Tuncurry ridge are changed over before the fresh pointing is laid.
With the ridge resealed, the easterlies coming off the northern beaches cannot push rain in, and the roof holds up for years without the leak coming back.
We pick a pointing colour that blends with your tiles, whether that is a terracotta ridge in town or a Colorbond-era concrete roof out at Diamond Beach.
Every bit of old bedding, offcut and wrapper is collected and carted off once the ridge is done, so your gutters and yard are left clear.

We do. As well as Tuncurry itself we work up through Hallidays Point, Diamond Beach and Black Head, and inland to Nabiac, Failford and Bulahdelah. If you are near any of those, David can take a look.
Those newer estates sit on open ground and take the full brunt of the easterly weather with nothing to shelter them. The steady salt exposure gets into the ridge mortar and breaks it down faster than owners expect, even on fairly young roofs.
Most single-storey homes are done in a day or two, depending on the length of ridge and how much rebedding is needed. David gives you a realistic timeframe with the quote so you know what to plan around.
If the tiles are sound and only the ridge mortar has failed, a rebed and repoint is usually all it takes and it is far cheaper than a full restoration. David will tell you straight if the roof needs more, rather than selling you work you do not need.
It comes down to the metres of ridge capping, the roof access and the state of the old pointing, so it is typically priced by the run of ridge. David provides a free written quote up front, and any figures given beforehand are a rough guide only until the roof is inspected.
